The Air Jordan 1 Retro OG High Black Toe is an original AJ1 colorway that was retro’d in 2013. Instead of a Jumpman on the tongue, these received full OG treatment with the “Nike Air” tongue tag.
Around 2013, the AJ1 “highs” started to have the actual the higher cut of the original, as opposed to the mid cuts that had represented retros previously. Like nearly all the OG colorways that retro’d with the Nike Air tongue tag, these sold out instantly and are still sought after today. I’m a big fan of Air Jordan 1s so I had to add these to the collection.
How Are The Materials on the 2013 Black Toe AJ1?
The smooth leather upper helps convey the simplicity of this classic shoe. There’s not a lot going on material wise but the same could be said for the original release of this colorway in 1985. The quality is pretty good for a 2010s-era Jordan Brand release.
It’s not quite as on the money as some other premium kicks such as Made-line New Balances, but it does the job and beats the plastic leather of many previous Jordan releases.
Fit on the Air Jordan 1 Black Toe (2013 Release)
These fit snug, but not uncomfortable at true to size.
Air Jordan 1 releases aren’t bad on fit as long as you don’t plan on doing a lot of walking or activity. For standing around or chilling, J1s are the perfect looking casual shoe!
Pretty much anything works with these. Good combinations would be khakis and a white tee with black coat, light colored denim with a black crewneck or dark pants with a black top. In other words, either a light fit that shows off the kicks, or a darker fit that gives a more downplayed look.
